The film is a blend of genres; sci-fi, romance, thriller, and takes infleunce from films already made in popular culture such as Spike Jonze's Her, and Alex Garland's Ex Machina. 

The film follows the protagonist, Dan, who works in IT and is bored with his daily routine, struggling to find comfort and fulfilment in real world relationships. He therefore turns to the new dating AI called AMI for love instead. However when the opportunity for a real relationship comes about, he forgets about his dating app, but when he finds himself dumped, AMI is still waiting for him...
